The IP Jackfield provides a simple, safe, out-of-band workflow that abstracts the complexity of manual CLI configurations and SPAN port management. The process is orchestrated in three logical steps:
The Providius NVRT performs real-time discovery of all multicast traffic on the network using gNMI to collect Multicast Forwarding Information Base (MFIB) tables from each Arista switch, building a comprehensive and live inventory of all available media flows
When an operator selects a flow to analyze, the NVRT initiates a policy with the DMF Controller to route traffic through the Arista TAP AGG network, while creating a filtered monitor session on the production switch to select the targeted flow.
The workflow completes as Providius NVRT automatically provisions the designated analysis engine, ensuring it’s ready to receive and process the media flow for immediate inspection.
An operator sees a glitch on-air. Using IP Jackfield, they can instantly patch a copy of that specific flow to a waveform monitor and packet analyzer to find the root cause in seconds.
